At its heart, science is about trying to understand the world we live in. In the Vick-Majors lab, we care about sharing our experiences and passion for science by picking up puzzle pieces from the environment, trying to understand the stories they tell, and then relaying the stories to colleagues and the public.

Our work has been covered by various news outlets. Here are a few:
  • On nutrient release from Antarctic subglacial lakes to the Southern Ocean, at EOS, Scientific American, Phys.org, and SALSA.
  • Dr. Vick-Majors on dealing with life in isolation, by Vice.
  • An excellent story published in Discover Magazine walks the reader through the how and why of studying Whillans Subglacial Lake. It also has some great photos!
  • The Christian Science Monitor interviewed Dr. Vick-Majors about microbes in Whillans Subglacial Lake.
  • The New York Times covered work at Whillans Subglacial Lake here.
  • Nature covered some of the science of subglacial lakes here.
  • An astrobiological take on icy systems from National Geographic also includes Dr. Vick-Majors' images of microbes from Subglacial Lake Whillans. See also microscope images in the LA Times.
